Dendron
The most complete worked example of hierarchy and schemas as the organising principle of a note vault, and a reminder that a widely installed tool can stop without its files becoming unreadable.

- Archived on the maintainer's own published declaration, not on a platform flag: the readme states active development has ceased and the project is in maintenance only, following a public announcement that the company behind it did not find a viable business. No successor is named, so the supersession status does not apply. The last commit touching product code is from August 2023, no releases exist, and the editor extension has not been updated since; its documentation site and published vaults still resolve. A search across its whole source tree finds no model or embedding code, so it is a plain note tool rather than an assisted one.
