Open SWE
The clearest worked example of a coding agent packaged as deployable infrastructure, with triggers, sandboxes, review, and delivery, rather than as a library an integrator has to assemble.
- Source model
- Mixed open and proprietary
- Licenses
- MIT License · Commercial or production-restricted terms
- Deployment
- Self-hosted service · Desktop application · Local CLI
- Status
- Active
- Product boundary
- The repository is permissively licensed, but the agent server it pins for production self-hosting is licensed on restricted terms and gated on a licence key, so the permissive badge covers the graphs and not the runtime that serves them. That runtime's licence has no identifier in the vocabulary and is recorded under the general commercial reference. The project was repositioned in September 2026 beyond the framing of its original announcement, which is a scope change on one record rather than supersession.
